If ever there was a controversy, there is definitely a controversy when it comes to tummy tuck post op. One might say, what could you possibly have a controversy about pertaining to a tummy tuck? A tummy tuck can be one of the most painful post op surgeries there are at least as it relates to plastic surgery. The controversy arises among those who have yet to have the cosmetic surgery and they argue whether or not it is worth the pain and discomfort to go through the process.
I speak from experience here. I was involved in a small group who from time to time would consider or at least discuss the possibility of having a tummy tuck. Many in the group would argue that almost any pain would be worth a result you could get from a really well done tummy tuck while others would argue almost the opposite. They would say to have someone cut you open to that degree remove a substantial quantity of your body then sew you up and wait for you to heal was just too much to go through no matter what the outcome. I have to admit I would straddle the fence because sometimes I became so frustrated in my effort to lose weight that I found it easy to ignore the possibility that the pain and discomfort and the risk was hardly possible at all.
Other times when I felt more confident I found myself on the side of those that said it was just too much of a risk and too much possibility for pain. So there you have it, both sides making strong arguments for and against a tummy tuck and none of us had ever gone so far as to even visit a doctor and discuss the real issues with a professional. The truth is probably somewhere between as with most things. Granted the pain could be immense and the recovery long but the discomfort would soon be forgotten if the goal had been met to transform one’s body into a picture of health.
Obviously I am not a doctor nor am I trained in any medical art so any advice you find in this post I would strongly recommend that you discuss with a qualified medical professional. In other words, don’t take my advice, go see your doctor listen and to what he or she has to say and if you are so inclined talk to two or three more and get other opinions before you undertake anything so serious as a tummy tuck. Tummy tuck post op is without a doubt something that you want to fully understand before you get started.
